Why Both Fear of Failure & Success Arise from the Same Illusion (and how to Change it in 1 Second)
Imagine you are one scene in a movie.
From this perspective, you did not want the movie to progress but stay exactly the same. If there were a scene change, you would dissolve into nothing. Whether the next one is bad or good, you would resist with all of your might.
Now, imagine that you are the entire movie instead.
Suddenly, you do not care so much about individual scenes anymore. You are concerned about the plot as a whole, ensuring each scene fulfills this purpose. You can safely drop any individual scene if you need a better one.
Now, replace “scene” with your mind/ego/identity and “movie” to who you truly are.
If you fear change of any kind, whether failure or success, you believe you are just one scene. You cannot afford to let it go.
But if you believe you are the entire movie instead, you can easily embrace change. They are only stepping stones to the amazing life you deserve.
So next time you feel uneasy about what’s coming, zoom out. You are more than just a snapshot in time. You are the watcher behind your experience that will always improve, no matter what happens.
Plus, the more present you are, the more you enjoy the movie (or your life).
