One Surprising But Highly Effective Tip To Get More Done Every Day

This tip is the following: decrease your information consumption, whether on social media, youtube, or books.

Last week I realized that I was consuming a lot of these. Instead of editing the upcoming Youtube video, I lost myself in a spiral of videos, books, audiobooks, and other scrolling. I felt incredibly productive while not doing anything useful except for daily articles and book writing. Consuming information is much easier than creating, after all.

As soon as I drastically limited my social media usage to 3 minutes a day (instead of 1 hour) and other information consumption to 1 hour/day (instead of 6 hours), everything changed.

When I did not have anything else apart from music and silence, all the tasks that I previously procrastinated on suddenly felt more attractive. By limiting my options and environment, I became a voracious doer again. It was especially apparent last Sunday when I abstained from videos and books.

Now I cannot wait to get back into action, digging into some fun music!

The key takeaway

If you are procrastinating on something important, chances are that you are spending a lot of time on Youtube, social media, or other information channels.

By limiting your information consumption to specific times, you will have no other option than music or silence. Even if you still want to do nothing, it’s ok since you will relax for once. Like food, grains and vegetables taste much better when the sweet stuff is gone.

So limit the easy input, and you will have no problem taking action ever again!
