My 5 best tips if you want to write your own books superfast (and enjoy every second of the process) (Thread)
I’ve written and self-published two books in one month
Here are my 5 best tips if you want to write your own books superfast (and enjoy every second of the process):
1/ Master the start
Yes, it’s easy to tell your friends that you will write.
But when you see the blank page, it becomes embarrassing
How to solve it?
Open a note & jot down every single thought you have about the book. No holds bar
Organize to outline later 👇
2/ Outline as early as possible
Writing is 1000x easier if you know sort of what you are going to say in each chapter
Before you even think about sentences, make sure you got
- Chapters
- Subchapters
- Main points
- Sources
Strive for good enough to just plunge in
3/ Research by bingeing
What do I mean by that?
Consume videos, articles, books as something fun, not as a chore.
Strive to research as much as possible from your phone, so you can be flexible
And listen a lot
I’ve written more about it here: https://thetotalliving.com/2022/04/how-i-listen-to-a-lot-of-audiobooks-very-fast-and-take-notes/
4/ Enjoy the writing session in itself
Schedule 1–2 hours every day & show up, regardless of how much you get done or how tired you are
Play some good music & relax if you feel stuck
Stare at the screen & write down your nervous self-talk
Writer’s block will be gone
5/ Change the structure a lot
Often it happens last minute
New information cause you to revise the entire book. Let it
Never be locked in on one particular outline
Bonus/ Finalization takes time
After doing the fun stuff of writing, you need to
- Edit multiple times
- Get a front cover
- Adjust the layout
- Convert to files
- Upload to Gumroad & Kindle
Be prepared to spend longer time than expected
TL;DR
- Master the start by just free-form writing
- Outline as early as possible
- Research by bingeing
- Enjoy the writing session in itself
- Change the structure a lot
Hoping to see your first book soon 👌
