I’ve written two books in one month

Here are 6 powerful solutions that helped me overcome procrastination (even if you are a self-claimed procrastinator)🧵👇

1/ Plan the work time

This way, it is crystal clear when you will start and (more importantly) end.

You can forget motivation and simply go to work when it is time.

The calendar allows you to define your limits. Decide how little and how much you are allowed to work.

2/ Be extremely clear about what to do next

Often you procrastinate because the task is too ambiguous.

But by asking yourself “what is the very next physical action”, you remove the onslaught of doubt.

Go down to actions like “open computer, go to website” if necessary

3/ Be comfortable in not getting it done as expected.

The fear of not being our best and getting it done is debilitating

However, the only thing you can control is your work

If it takes longer to complete, it’s ok because you always move forward (compared to procrastinators)

4/ Enjoy the process no matter what happens

It’s like taking a hot bath. The purpose is to become clean, but the warmth on your skin makes it a fantastic experience every second.

Do the same when you are working by listening to enjoyable music in a comfortable place.

5/ Lower the criteria for success

Perfectionism arises from high expectations and kills creativity

Instead, tell yourself that it’s not so important and you are allowed to be disappointed

Once the pressure is off, you can enter flow and produce your best work nonetheless

6/ Use your fear as fuel

Ultimately, you are afraid to be ridiculed by the world (mostly yourself)

But it’s a signal of doing your best work

You will learn from mistakes, so there is no real threat

Remember this fear paralyzes people, and you are courageous enough to feel it

TL;DR

  • Plan the work time
  • Be extremely clear about what to do next
  • Be comfortable in not getting it done as expected.
  • Enjoy the process no matter what happens
  • Lower the criteria for success
  • Use your fear as fuel

Use them all to get things done without strain

Thanks for reading!
