4 Observations From Atomic Habits That You Can Use For Your Next Best-seller
Atomic Habits by @JamesClear has sold over 5 million copies
I went through it again last week & noticed a pattern for each chapter
Here are 4 key observations you an use for your next megabestseller:
1/ Start with a story
Every chapter has a compelling and fitting story, written from beginning to end
Every best-seller within non-fiction has them to some extent, giving a good reading experience aside from the advice
2/ Simple language
Throughout the book, Clear writes very simply, almost like he is in the same room as us
(Even more apparent with the audio version)
James Clear writes clearly, not cleverly. Connecting instead of impressing
And it works!
3/ Lots of examples
Every chapter has at least 3 new big ideas
All these get at least 3 different examples in various domains
The more examples, the clearer the abstract concept is, making it easier to understand
4/ Chapter summary
At the end of each chapter there is a quick wrap up, showing you what has been covered
Very helpful if there was a lot and you just want something to remember later
Let’s summarize what we’ve covered so far:
TL;DR
- Start with a story (and use a lot of them)
- Simple language
- Lots of examples
- Chapter summary
Common across the best-sellers I’ve read/listened
I will use this template in my upcoming book (Conquer Procrastrination)
And you can too!
